Geography comments: "Tel Ro'im West is a Neolithic mound situated above the northwestern margin of the Hula Valley, c. 150 m west of Tel Ro'im, in northern Israel. It is located on a low rise at the foot of the Ramim Ridge, c. 175 m asl".
The Pre-Pottery Neolithic C stratum of Tel Ro'im West dates to between 8700 and 8350 cal. BP.

Environment
Lithology: sandstone

Taphonomic context: human accumulation,settlement

Archaeology: buildings,stone tools

Habitat comments: "The site contains five main strata. The PPNC sequence corresponds to Stratum IV, composed of light coloured, yellowish-grey sandy sediment 0.5-0.8 m thick. Remains of a few rectangular walls were found, one of which was preserved to a height of up to three courses, and was particularly massive and long (at least 13 m in length). The flint assemblage and absence of potsherds confirms this stratum was associated with the PPNC".

Methods
Life forms: carnivores,rodents,ungulates,birds,lizards,turtles

Sampling methods: quarry,screenwash

Sample size: 312 specimens

Years: 2004

Sampling comments: "Initial probes were conducted at the site followed by a salvage excavation in 2004. The main excavation was carried out in two areas: Area A (125 m2) and Area B (50 m2). Area A was excavated to bedrock and reached a depth of c. 4 m while area B was excavated to an average depth of about 1 m". The remains below were derived from Area A.
"All bone fragments were retrieved through dry sifting (10 mm) from stratigraphically well-defined loci and layers".
