Faunal comparisons indicate an Early Pliocene chronology but "a Messinian chronology cannot be completely discarded

Habitat comments: "Red silt of karstic origin which are the floor sediment of a collapsed cave in the Upper Miocene limestone of the so-called Reef Complex"
