Sampling comments: data "were collected during July 2006 using 102 sampling points distributed across 25 km2... 62 points (hereafter 'elevation points') were arranged along three ~1-km transects (one transect numbered 22 points) at 50-m intervals across an elevation gradient from 1,686 to 1,822 m; and (2) 40 points (hereafter 'distance points') were randomly scattered across a 20-km2 area of desert grassland... Each sampling point consisted of a 1 £ 5-m transect along which grasshoppers were Xushed by the observer using a pole to disturb vegetation... grasshoppers were identified by sight in the field... and only immediately unidentifiable individuals were collected"
